Speed cameras work by using either radar or laser technology to measure the speed of vehicles as they pass by.

Radar speed cameras emit radio waves that bounce off vehicles and are then received back by the camera. By measuring the change in frequency of the returning waves, the camera can calculate the speed of the vehicle.

Laser speed cameras work similarly, but instead of radio waves, they use pulses of laser light to measure the time it takes for the light to be reflected back from the vehicle.

Once the speed of the vehicle is determined, the camera will capture an image of the vehicle, typically including the license plate, and record the speed at which it was traveling. This information is then used to issue a speeding ticket to the vehicle's owner.

Speed cameras are typically placed in areas where speeding is a concern, such as near schools, construction zones, or on highways with high accident rates. They are a valuable tool for enforcing speed limits and improving road safety.
